Krystel Knowles, a 2X Emmy-nominated and multi award winning broadcast journalist and seasoned communications professional. Expertise in long format storytelling and content creation specializing in stories about space exploration, environmental sustainability, and public affairs. She enjoys all aspects of the creative process, from story pitching, writing, videography, editing and reporting. Having worked across Tampa, Sarasota, Melbourne and Orlando, Krystel has anchored and reported on a diverse range of topics.

With a B.A. in Television Production and an M.A. in Digital Journalism from the University of South Florida, Krystel brings over 17 years of dynamic experience in the news industry. Starting her career in print journalism and photography, she seamlessly transitioned to broadcast, where she now serves as a Senior Producer and Reporter for PBS WUCF-TV Orlando. Krystel is known for her ability to craft compelling stories that resonate with the community, covering everything from rocket launches on the Space Coast to in-depth investigative reports. She also hosts a Spanish segment on social media platforms, maintaining a strong online presence.
Originally from Tampa, Krystel has gained international experience living in countries such as Canada, the Bahamas, Brazil, and Peru. These diverse experiences have uniquely shaped her storytelling, infusing her work with a rich and worldly perspective.

Outside of work, Krystel freelances as a college professor, teaching journalism at both graduate and undergraduate levels across various Florida state universities. Her passion for the arts shines through her involvement in community theater, private singing lessons, and participation in an annual dance forum, where she hones her skills across multiple dance styles. Whenever she gets a break, Krystel loves traveling internationally and immersing herself in diverse cultures—so far, she’s had the pleasure of exploring 12 countries.
